News of Egypt’s ambassador to Germany embezzling is false: Foreign Affairs Ministry

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday in a statement that the news circulated in local media, which included accusations of embezzlement by Egyptian ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel-Atti, was false.
The ministry denied all the alleged accusations against Abdel-Atti, including embezzlement, bribery, and registration of the embassy’s vehicles under his name.
“The ministry has an interior inspection body, which oversees the adherence of the diplomatic code of conduct,” the statement read, assuring that such bodies are independent and work in coordination with the ministry.
Local media had reported on Thursday that Abdel-Atti’s house in Berlin was allegedly raided by Administrative Control personnel on the charges of embezzling €250,000, and that he would be sent back to Egypt.
Such reports came after activists on Twitter had shared the same news.
