Sisi hails Upper Egyptian tricycle rider for her perseverance

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Thursday, Nov. 29 the Upper Egyptian tricycle rider, Marwa el-Abd, at the Ittihadiya Palace.

Sisi hailed Abd as a model for perseverance and diligence who sets an example for young people in persistence and firmness, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said.

On October 21, Abd, 27, called on those with compassionate hearts to help her buy a tricycle to work as she has no money to pay the rent of her home. Abed helps her sick father in raising her brothers.

Sisi also honored on Nov. 29 the national squash team for winning the World Championship and the women’s football team for snatching the bronze medal in the Special Olympics Unified Cup.

The president bestowed the Order of Sports Merit on the Egyptian champions, greeting them and the technical committees that were responsible for their training.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali and Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi along with the regional president of Special Olympics and the chairman of the Egyptian Squash Association.

President Sisi hailed the achievements of the champions who contribute to promoting Egypt’s position in the regional and international sports arena, Rady said in a statement.
The president expressed appreciation for the Egyptian athletes whom he described as role models for the youth, the spokesman added.

Sisi ordered providing the Egyptian champions with all the needed support to help them make more sports achievements, Rady noted.

For their part, the Egyptian champions said that they are proud of being honored by the president, confirming that such move reflects Sisi’s appreciation for the distinguished Egyptian athletes.
