Sources inside Egyptian Football Association, EFA, revealed the possibility of excluding Ismailia stadium from the 2019 African Cup of Nations after riots which took place in Ismaily’s match against Tunisia’s Club African.

Ismaily hosted Tunisia’s Club African in the CAF Champions League group stages but the game wasn’t completed after riots from Ismaily’s fans. Club African was leading the score 2-1 but the game stopped in the 83rd minute for 30 minutes; the referee ended the game and wrote the incidents in his report.

CAF is set to issue penalties against Ismaily which may be excluding the Egyptian club from the tournament.

“We may exclude Ismailia stadium to avoid any events may occur during the African tournament,” EFA source told Filgoal website.

The CAF Executive Committee announced on Tuesday, January 8 that Egypt will host the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches. Egypt won the rights to host the tournament after being selected over South Africa.

“Egypt won’t find any problem to prepare another stadium; the Egyptian file includes five alternatives,” EFA source added.
