Cairo sees drop in temperature after heat wave

After a scorching heat wave that hit Cairo ended last week, the capital is expected to see a five-degree decline in temperature in the coming days, accompanied with dust, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

Despite the significant drop in temperature in most areas, the weather is still very hot especially in Upper Egypt, which requires citizens to avoid direct exposure to the sun during the day hours, the head of EMA Ahmed Adel told Egypt Today.

The gradual decrease in temperature will start from Sunday morning, going down by two-three degrees, while Cairo will see highs of 31°C.

Cairo recorded highs of 36 °C and lows of 18°C on Saturday.

Temperature degrees went high during the past week, recording up to 40°C -42°C during the day in Cairo.

Sunday expected temperature comes as follows:

Cairo: 21 – 15 °C
Alexandria: 27-15°C
Mersa Matruh: 28- 18 °C
Sohag: 37-20 °C
Qena: 38-21 °C
Luxor: 39-22 °C
Aswan: 39-23 °C
