Egypt strongly condemned a drone attack launched by the Houthi militias on Abha airport in Saudi Arabia which led to the death of one person and the injury of several others, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s statement on Sunday.
The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s full support to measures taken by Saudi Arabia to preserve its security and stability.
It is worth mentioning that one Syrian was killed and seven civilians were injured in the Houthi attack.
Meanwhile, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah also condemned the attack and stressed that such terrorist act isa blatant violation of international laws and a perilous escalation that threatens security and stability in the region.
US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid strongly condemned on Monday the”cowardly attack” that targeted Abha International Airport, Al Arabiya TV reported.
GCC Secretary General Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani described the attack as a terror crime that contradicts international law and conventions and poses a serious risk to the lives of civilians.
He also called on the international community to deplore the repeated Houthi rocket and drone attacks against densely populated areas and civilian institutions in the kingdom, the statement added.
Zayani extended his condolences to the victim’s family and wished the injured a speedy recovery, the statement noted.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK and the Arab parliament released a joint statement expressing their concern over escalating tensions in the region and the dangers posed by Iran’s destabilizing activities in Yemen and the broader region.
The AP speaker offered his condolences to the victim’s family, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery, and reiterated the AP’s solidarity and support for all measures taken by Riyadh to protect its security and stability, according to a statement issued by the Parliament.
