Sudan’s PM Says Keen to Benefit From Egypt’s Economic Experiment

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok said he was looking forward to benefit from the Egyptian experience in resolving economic issues, including inflation, during his meeting in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart, Mostafa Madbouli, on Wednesday.

Hamdok, who left Cairo after he also met with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, invited Madbouli to visit Sudan, to hold discussions in bilateral cooperation fields, a statement issued by the Egyptian Cabinet read.

For his part, Madbouli affirmed Egyptian government’s readiness to provide brotherly Sudan with all forms of urgent assistance, including dispatching medical convoys, extending Egypt’s initiative to eliminate Hepatitis C to treat Sudanese patients.

The Egyptian prime minister also ordered sending a delegation of Egyptian businessmen to Sudan, to watch possible investment opportunities.

Madbouli said he was confident that the current Sudanese government were able to manage the situation in the brotherly country in a way that would meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

Hamdok was appointed as Sudan’s Prime Minister last August, as the country is experiencing a three-year transitional period to turn into civilian rule, after public uprising has ousted President Omar al-Bashir who had ruled Sudan since 1989.

Attending the meeting, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri affirmed Egypt’s support to the Sudanese issue in all international forums, and its keenness to coordinate with Sudan on all issues as part of the Egyptian belief that the security of partners in the region supports the security in Egypt.
