Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Bahrain counterpart Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa discussed Saturday the latest developments of the Turkish offensive into Syria.

The two ministers tackled the consequences of such a serious move on the Syrian unity and the path of the country’s political process, in line with UN Security Council resolution no. 2254.

The meeting was held before the emergency Arab League meeting, at the ministerial level to address the Turkish incursion into northern Syria.

According to a statement issued by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez, the meeting took up ways of maintaining Syria’s sovereignty, unity of its people and lands.

Earlier, Shoukry held at Tahrir palace a consultative meeting grouping the foreign ministers of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Jordan to discuss the Turkish offensive into Syria.

Separately, the foreign minister conferred with a delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council.
