Veteran actress Magda el-Sabahy passed away on the afternoon of Jan. 16 at the age of 88.
Sabahy presented to the Egyptian cinema a number of the most important social, religious and national films, of which a number was listed among the 100 most important films in the history of cinema.
The late artist bears some features of the characters that she presented on the screen. Her family was a very prominent family in the governorate of Menoufia. Her father was one of the prominent members working at the Ministry of Transportation.
Her real name was Afaf Ali Kamel Ahmed Abdel Rahman el-Sabahy and achieved her education in the French schools.
