Abdel Dayem embarks on inspecting tour to 51st CIBF

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem went on an inspection tour on the evening of Jan. 27 to the 51st Cairo International Book Fair.

The inspecting tour embarked by Abdel Dayem was to follow-up on the various pavilions, publishing houses, and the rate of purchases at the book fair which launched on Jan. 22 bearing the slogan “Egypt-Africa: A Culture Of Diversity”.

The Ministry of Culture announced that the number of visitors to the Cairo International Book Fair in its 51st edition exceeded 600K visitors by the evening of January 26.

In this context, Abdel Dayem said that numbers revealed highlights the public’s awareness of the importance of reading as an effective way to build a stable personality and that the number of visitors within the first four days of the fair reflects a passion for knowledge.

The Minister of Culture further stated that the turnout index of different ages and different social groups also expresses the desire to receive varied cultural and intellectual dosages.

She explained that the volume of sales of the Ministry of Culture’s publications compared to the same period in the previous editions witnessed an active movement that increased up to three times.

For his part, Head of the General Egyptian Book Organization Haitham al-Hag, mentioned that the total number of copies sold from GEBO’s publications alone reached 60K copies, the best-seller being Gamal Hemdan’s encyclopedia “The Personality of Egypt”.

Head of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces Ahmed Awad, said that the authority’s sales reached 38K copies in 4 days.
