North Sinai Governor Mohamed Shousha announced on Tuesday that construction of the largest desalination plant in Africa and the Middle East has started.
The capacity of the first phase is 100,000 cubic meters daily, and that of the second and third phases is 300,000 cubic meters per day.
The governor added that a number of infrastructure and renovation projects were scheduled to be inaugurated in the governorate’s day, marking April 25. Those include four desalination plants in the governorate’s capital, Arish. Three have a total capacity of 5,000 cubic meters per day, and one has a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters daily. The four plants will pump into the water supply network of Arish 25,000 cubic meters daily.
The governorate’s municipal authority is renovating the seaport, and five main squares that are Al-Minaa Square, Arish Square, Saa Square, Cairo Square, and Sadat Square.
Arish Hospital, Beir Al-Abd Hospital, and Nakhl Hospital are being expanded to serve towns and surroundings instead of villages. The renovation of the first phase of Arish General Hospital is over, and works in the second phase will begin right away.
The governor revealed that cooperation protocols were signed with the medical schools of four universities to carry check-ups on citizens, affirming that terrorism in the border governorate would never cripple development projects serving its dwellers.
