A partial penumbral lunar eclipse will be seen on Sunday for two hours and 45 seconds, according to a statement from the Egyptian National Research Institute Of Astronomy and Geophysics on Saturday.
The so-called Buck Moon can be seen only by telescopes in the regions where it appears. These regions include most of southern and western Europe, Africa except for the northeastern part, most of North America, South America, most of Polynesia, New Zealand, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and Antarctica.
The penumbral eclipse cannot be seen in Cairo because the moon will be below the horizon during the eclipse, which will occur between 5:07 A.M. and 7:52 A.M (Cairo local time), the statement said.
The 21st century ( 2001-2100) witnesses a total of 230 lunar eclipses, including 85 full eclipses, 58 partial, and 87 penumbral eclipses, the statement added.
