Egypt approves new customs facilities in light of coronavirus crisis

Some new customs facilities had been approved in line with the exceptional circumstances imposed by coronavirus crisis, and the repercussions of it related to stopping the movement of marine and land travel between countries, and obliging the Egyptians returning to the homeland to a period of sanitary isolation, Minister of Finance, Mohamed Ma’it, said Monday.

Ma’it added in a statement that “TRIPTIK” cars for Egyptians residing abroad, foreigners, tourists and transients coming to spend a temporary period in the country will be exempted from the fine imposed until the return of land and sea travel between countries.

Triptik is a customs traffic document for the vehicle and it valid for one year from the date of issue. its ends on the expiration date or expiration of pages like all travel documents.

He explained that this is subject to the continued validity of guaranteeing these cars and attaching a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the position of land and sea ports.

Finance Minister stated that the 48-hour grace period for purchase from duty free markets after the expiry of the health isolation period that follows the date of the passenger’s expiration will be calculated as part of the precautionary measures and preventive measures against the coronavirus, according to a certificate from the Ministry of Health to remain in the health isolation zone according to the prescribed period.
