Egypt-Bahrain trade exchange volume reaches $471M

The volume of trade exchange between Bahrain and Egypt reached $471 million during the year 2019, where Egypt ranked fifth as a non-oil trading partner with total exports of $365 million, Bahraini Ambassador Hisham bin Muhammad al-Jowder stated.

Egypt occupied the 11th place with re-exports with a value of $23 million, and the trade balance reached $286 million.

The number of companies and Egyptian agencies registered in Bahrain reached 1,200 companies, 11 agencies and three branches of companies, while Bahraini investments in Egypt hit $3.2 billion in 2,016 projects, ranking 16th among countries investing in Egypt.

Both countries have signed nine agreements and 13 memoranda of understanding.

This came during the first international digital investment forum organized by the Egyptian Businessmen Association, in coordination with the Bahraini Businessmen Association and both embassies in Cairo and Manama via video conference.

The conference discussed the future of investment and opportunities of economic cooperation in the coming phase with the participation of embassies, businessmen, the private sector, senior statesmen, heads of businessmen organizations, investment experts, banking, financial, real estate and industrial sectors in both countries.

Al-Jowder suggested forming a follow-up committee for the mechanisms that the forum comes out with to increase the volume of trade exchange, and there is no objection to the two embassies being a part of it.

For his part, Ambassador of Egypt to Bahrain Yasser Shaaban affirmed the readiness of Egyptian embassy in Manama to provide all support to businessmen in the two countries to develop trade and investment relations in both counties.
