On International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Egypt’s First Lady Entisar El Sisi affirms women’s right to live in a safe environment free from violations and abuse of rights, where non-derogable rights are protected.

“Egypt is moving steadily towards empowering women, promoting their rights, and protecting them from all kinds of verbal and physical abuse,” said Egypt’s First Lady Entisar El Sisi.

“Our new republic is based on gender equality, and activating the role of women as it is an essential partner in building this nation, she added.

In her meeting with Duchess Camilla of Cornwall at Al Itihadiyah presidential palace on November 18, 2021, Egypt’s First Lady had a conversation on women empowerment, and steps made by the state to expand their role at the government, the parliament, and qualifying a new generation of young Egyptian women.

The First Lady also presented the state’s efforts targeted at securing a decent life for all Egyptians through a series of initiatives and presidential programs.

In his speech at the 8th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women in July, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed that Egypt over the coming two years will focus on two main issues: empowering women economically and combating the negative impacts of terrorism and extremism against women.

He announced the establishment of ‘the Organization of Women’s development,’ the first specialized organization within the framework of OIC work to promote and protect women’s rights.
