Spain’s Ambassador to Egypt Ramón Gil-Casares said the opening of the Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor on Thursday secures a great chance to rediscover ancient Luxor.
In remarks to Egypt Today, Gil-Casares said he is sure that many Spanish people will enjoy marching on the same road taken by ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago.
The world’s eyes are turning to Egypt on Thursday as the Upper Egyptian governorate is set to witness the opening of Avenue of the Sphinxes connecting two huge temples.
The Pharaonic Avenue of Sphinxes (Rams Road) was a road of major processions for the kings of the Pharaohs, and various holidays were celebrated inside it, including the renowned “Opet Festival” and the coronation feast of the king.
