Egyptian, Omani FMs hold official talks in Muscat

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry - currently in Muscat - had official talks on Sunday with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi.

CAIRO – 23 January 2022: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry – currently in Muscat – had official talks on Sunday with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi.

Delegations of the two countries attended the talks, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said on Twitter account.

The talks are meant to underline the depth of bilateral ties and exchange views on means of enhancing joint Arab action and coordinating stances vis-a-vis regional and international issues.

Shoukry and his Omani counterpart signed in Muscat on Sunday six memorandums of understanding and executive programs for cooperation between the two countries.

The memos and executive programs aim at promoting political consultations as well as cooperation in the fields of housing, media, legal, education and tourism, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said on Twitter account.

This falls within the framework of the 15th joint committee activities between the two countries.

Shoukry handed over a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Oman’s ruler Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq.

Shoukry delivered the message during his meeting with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for the Cabinet Affairs Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said.

The meeting referred to the economic boom that Egypt is witnessing, a matter which will contribute positively to cementing economic and trade ties with Oman, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Hafez.

Shoukry, meanwhile, underlined Egypt’s firm commitment toward maintaining the Gulf and Arab security, added the spokesman.

The Egyptian top diplomat also pointed out to the close ties binding Egypt and Oman, said the spokesman, adding that Shoukry appreciated the role played by the Egyptian community in Oman in this respect.
