CAIRO – 27 March 2022: Cairo will remain to be the historical and political capital of Egypt, and the Administrative Capital is only an extension to alleviate the burdens on the old city, said a government spokesperson on Saturday.
“The Capital gathers a group of projects that expedite pumping life into it, but Cairo with all its history and antiquities will remain to be the main capital of Egypt,” spokesperson of the Administrative Capital Khaled al-Husseiny said in a short documentary about the new city on DMC channel.
Some Egyptians voiced concerns when the Administrative Capital was announced, worrying that Cairo would be ignored, but the government has simultaneously embarked on development and infrastructure projects inside the metropolitan city.
