The draw for the 2021 African Cup of Nations resulted in a winnable group consisting of Togo, Kenya and Comoros Islands.

Egypt was drawn from Pot 1 for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers draw which meant that they
automatically knew they would avoid Africa’s toughest nations. Egypt will need to either win or come second in their group as the top two from each groups qualifies for the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations. Egypt will look to qualify and make amends for a disastrous 2019 AFCON campaign in Egypt.

Some recognizable legends of African football were in attendance to assist with the draw. Al-Ahly legend and club president Mahmoud El-Khatib, Samuel Eto, Rabah Madjer and Nwankwo Kanu were all at the venue.

The competition qualifiers will start during October 2019 when the preliminary matches take place Oct. 7-15, 2019. The start of the group games will be on Nov. 11-19, 2019. Cameroon, who were stripped of the 2019 edition, will host the tournament.

The tournament will be played throughout June 25- July 23, 2021.
