Chairman of the Chinese Consultative Council dazzled by the Giza Pyramids

Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled el-Anany convened with Wang Yang; chairman of the Chinese Consultative Council and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Nov. 12.

Yang was accompanied by a delegation and was invited to the minister’s office in the Giza Pyramids area.

During the convention, Anany and Yang discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and China in the field of archaeological work and museums, training young archaeologists and restorers and exchanging experiences. The first Chinese excavation mission began its work in Egypt in 2018, at the Monto Temple in Karnak.

After the meeting, Yang and his delegation visited the Pyramids’ Antiquities Area and was accompanied by the General Manager of the Pyramids’ Antiquities Ashraf Mohieddin, during a tour which started by visiting the Great Pyramid (Khufu) from the inside.

Yang expressed his deep admiration of the ancient Egyptian civilization and the miraculous engineering methods used in constructing the Giza Pyramids.

The Chinese delegation then headed to the Panorama area, where memorial photos were taken before ending the tour with a visit to the Sphinx, where they listened to an explanation of the restoration work done to it, in addition to the groundwater project in the area.
