Rosatom launches 2021 Science Festival in Cairo

Rosatom launched Sunday the 2021 Science Festival in Cairo equally inaugurating at the Russian Cultural Center a photo exhibition portraying different nuclear power industries such as nuclear fuel and floating reactors.

A speech was delivered by Rosatom Director General for the MENA Region Alexander Frankov as he presented opportunities for Egyptian students to study in Russia.

Rosatom builds in Egypt’s Dabaa Town – located in Matrouh Governorate – a nuclear power plant consisting of four third-generation reactors with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts. The first of which is planned to enter service by 2026.

Frankov noted that the plant will improve the quality of life in Dabaa and Matrouh in general for that the reactors are environment-friendly. He added that introducing a new technology in a country improves the standard of living as it requires upgrading the technology used in the manufacturing, agricultural, and medical sectors. Furthermore, the plant will be a source of clean sustainable energy.
