Egypt’s military strength ranks 13th globally in 2021

The annual review of Global Firepower ranked Egypt’s military strength 13th globally for the year 2021 out of 139 “countries considered” compared to ninth out of 138 states in 2020.

The rating Egypt received is 0.2216 – with 0.0000 considered ‘perfect’ – against 0.1872 last year.

Egypt was preceded – in order – by the United States, Russia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, France, United Kingdom, Brazil, Pakistan, Turkey, and Italy.

Yet, Egypt ranks 10th in aircraft strength and seventh in navy fleet strength. The total strength of the former is 1,053 aircraft, while that of the latter is 316 assets.

The breakdown for the Air Force is 250 fighter jets, 88 dedicated attack jets, 59 transport jets, 341 jet trainers, 11 special jet trainers, 304 helicopters, and 91 attack helicopters.

The breakdown for the Naval Force is nine frigates, seven corvettes, eight submarines, 50 offshore patrol vessels, 23 mine warfare systems, and two helicopter carriers.

With regard to land forces, Egypt owns 3,735 tanks, 11,000 armored vehicles, 1,165 self-propelled artillery, 2,200 towed artillery, and 1,235 rocket projectors.
