Italian tourist kills Marsa Alam hotel director

The director of a tourist hotel in Marsa Alam, south of the Red Sea, was killed on Friday by an Italian tourist after being fatally beaten. The tourist was arrested and the body of the victim was transferred to a hospital morgue in Marsa Alam.

Major General Hossam Kamal, head of the Red Sea Security Directorate, received a notification from Marsa Alam tourism police, saying Tarik Ahmed Abdel Hamid known as Tarik al-Henawy, director of a tourist hotel in Marsa Alam, was beaten to death by an Italian tourist.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the perpetrator, Leonard Ivan Pascal, beat Hinawy to death after he prevented him from going to the sea after daylight hours, in accordance to security regulations.

The suspect was arrested, his passport was seized and the Italian Embassy was notified. The prosecution was called on for investigation.
