Egypt will continue to see hot weather over the next three days, with a slight rise in temperatures of 1-2 degree Celsius forecast, a senior meteorologist said.

Hot, humid weather is forecast for Cairo and the Nile Delta, with high temperatures predicted at 35-36°C over the next 72 hours, Wahid Saudi, spokesperson for the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, told Ahram Online on Friday.

Coastal cities in the country’s north, including the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, are expected to see highs of 31-32°C.

Egypt’s southern cities are likely to see hotter weather, with highs expected to hover around 36-37°C in the northern part of Upper Egypt and 40-42°C degrees in the southern part.

The waters of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean will be suitable for navigation, except for the Gulf of Suez on the northern end of the Red Sea, where weather is predicted to yield high wind speeds and high waves of 2-2.5 metres.
