MSME provides 4.8M jobs through pumping LE45.8B

Chief Executive Officer of the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSME) Nevine Gamea revealed that the project agency injected LE45.8 billion in funds during the period January 1992 to January 31, 2019.

Gamea noted that the total loans of small and micro enterprises with a total funding of LE39.6 billion, financed 3 million projects and provided about 4.8 million jobs, referring that the proportion of women hit 51 percent of the total projects.

The agency provided LE 6.4 billion in grants for infrastructure and community projects and training, and provided about 824,000 jobs, she added at a press conference, Thursday, on the occasion of the receipt of the device the stamp of equality from the United Nations Development Program.

She also referred that the agency provided funds amounting to LE 9.9 billion during the period from April 1, 2017 to January 31, 2019, including loans to finance small and micro enterprises with a total funding of LE 9.7 billion. It financed 465,000 small and finished projects that provided 707,000 jobs. Women accounted for 48 percent of the total number of projects.

During the period from April 2017 to January 2019, the Agency provided grants totaling LE 245.3 million for infrastructure projects, community development and training, which provided about 18,000 job opportunities, in which female employment accounted for 57 percent of total employment opportunities.

Gamea honoured in bt 100 ceremony for her leading role in developing the SME landscape.
