Muslim worshiper attacked in London; Dar al-Ifta condemns rising Islamophobia

London attack - File photo

The UK newspaper The Sun published a disturbing footage showing two armed men with hammers running in the streets in east London, escaping after attacking a worshiper near a mosque Saturday.

This attack targeting Muslim prayers came only few hours after an Australian white supremacist opened fire on worshipers in the New Zealand mosque attacks that killed 49 people.

The Islamophobia Monitoring Observatory at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta condemned an attack on a worshiper in one of London mosques just several hours after the deadly terror attack that took place at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, leaving 49 worshipers dead.

The observatory urged the British authorities to take all needed measures to protect the lives of the worshipers and maintain security in mosques.

A Muslim man was attacked with a “hammer” outside an East London mosque earlier in the day.

Eyewitnesses told the Independent that the attackers were a group of three men, who called people who came for the Friday prayers “terrorists.”
