Sisi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum talk bilateral ties in Beijing

In his residency in Beijing, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a meeting with Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi stated.

Both leaders tackled the bilateral relations and the regional and international issues of mutual concern, Radi added. The leaders praised the good and cooperative ties between the two countries.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also praised the Egyptian economic reform procedures that resulted in fruitful outcomes, Radi said, adding that the ruler of Dubai congratulated President Sisi on the results of the referendum on new constitutional amendments that allow Sisi to remain in power until 2030. Only 44 percent of 61-million-eligible Egyptians voted in the referendum; 88 percent of the turnout voted for the constitutional amendments.

President Sisi praised the UAE’s leading role in the fields of science, information technology and investments.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi arrived Beijing early Thursday to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRFIC). The Belt and Road Initiative was launched by the Chinese government to enhance trade, investments, and infrastructure in more than 150 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The initiative is a revival to what was known as “The Silk Road.”
