President Sisi receives president of General Assembly of UN

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Wednesday, July 3 President of the General Assembly of the United Nations María Fernanda Espinosa at Ittahdya palace, according to a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The statement added that the president affirmed Egypt’s firm stance on tackling the root causes of migration and refugees, which includes economic, developmental, political, cultural and humanitarian measures, focusing on solving the problems of those exporting countries and not just focusing on security solutions.

For her part, Espinosa praised Egypt’s pivotal role in the Middle East as a cornerstone of security and stability, and its keenness to reach political settlements for the various crises experienced by the region.

She stated that she values Egypt’s active participation in various activities of the United Nations and international multilateral forums as well as the country’s efforts to defend the issues of African and developing countries, especially within the framework of its current chairmanship of the African Union.
