Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry made contacts with Algerian and Moroccan counterparts Sabri Boukadoum and Nasser Bourita, respectively, discussing the latest development occurred in Guerguerat village at the Western Sahara Border Zone, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson in a statement on Saturday.
On Friday, the Moroccan Armed Forces announced that it has deployed troops in the buffer zone to secure the movements of the individuals and cargos in this disputed area, which connects Morocco with Mauritania, amid “provocative acts” taken by Polisario Front. Meanwhile, the Front, whch is a Sahrawi rebel national liberation movement aiming to end Moroccan presence in the Western Sahara, considered such move is a violation to the ceasefire between both sides.
Egypt is closely following up on the developments and making the necessary contacts to preserves stability and avoid any tension in the region, Hafez continued.
