Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said the government has – despite the coronavirus crisis and its pressure on the state budget – managed to improve salaries of employees in 2020 in line with the presidential directives.

In a statement on Thursday, he said the state has been committed to disbursing bonuses in line with the law.

He added that additional funds were allocated for improving salaries of those working in the health sector as well as those working in the tertiary educational stage and the state administrative body.

As for the new taxes law, he noted that the new law is meant to realize justice, expounding that the number of people exempted from taxes rose to 60 percent.
