Egypt has lost $ 14 billion because of coronavirus pandemic, said the Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait in media remarks to “Facts and Secrets” talk show on Sada El Balad T.V. on Thursday evening.
The Egyptian economy witnessed the second-best growth, comparing to other countries, amid the Coronavirus pandemic, he added.
He continued that some vital sectors such as tourism, hotels, and civil aviation were negatively affected by the virus.
On January 4, 2021, Maait said in a statement that the Egyptian economy is stable and is still able to face the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis.
He added that the elaborate implementation of the economic reform program and dealing with a proactive methodology helped a lot in containing the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis, and mitigating the shock, to become Egypt, as Bloomberg mentioned, among the 10 fastest growing economies in the world during 2020.
