The Health and Population Ministry said Saturday night that 761 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 306,030.
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 32 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 17,399.
As many as 544 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 258,252, the spokesman added.
Students who will not receive the COVID-19 vaccine will not enter campuses or dormitories, said spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education Adel Abdel Ghaffar in media remarks to “Hasad El Isboa” talk show on Extra News.
A total of 100 health centers began to receive academic students to be administered against the virus nationwide, he added, saying “the new academic year will be fully attended by students and professors, as it was before the coronavirus [pandemic], and students who did not receive the vaccine will not enter the university campus.”
Egypt started last week receiving students of university and high institutes to be vaccinated against coronavirus ahead of the new academic year scheduled to begin on 9 October. This includes public, private, non-profit and Al-Azhar universities.
The Ministry of Health announced on Friday that 745 new coronavirus cases were registered, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 305,269.
In a statement, Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said 36 coronavirus-linked deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide death toll to 17,367 since the outset of the pandemic.
As many as 822 cases were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care, pushing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 257,708, the spokesman added.
