CAIRO – 5 December 2021: Participating ministers in the eighth High-level Political Forum 2021 (HLPF 2021) of the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) recommended benefiting from the Egyptian experience in combating terrorism.

The forum began on Thursday and concluded Saturday issuing recommendations in the Algerian city of Oran.

Those included the necessity of coordination among Africa states to devise common stances over different issues and crises to make the continent’s voice heard in international organizations and agencies, particularly the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

That is in addition to restricting terrorists’ access to the internet, particularly social media, which are a main recruitment tool, as well as designating effective counterterrorism ways and mechanisms, and strengthening coordination between the PSC and the UNSC.

All that would require – as indicated in the document – enhancing African governance by implementing a number of laws and systems that would achieve effective control and consolidate multi-lateral work.
