John Hopkins: Coronavirus cases worldwide exceed 279 million

WASHINGTON – 26 December 2021: As many as 279,477,572 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU) on Sunday.

It reported that about 5,396,885 have died from the virus worldwide.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of infections at more than 52 million and highest number of deaths at 816,436 to be followed by Brazil and India.
