Baghdad to host Arab Chess Championship with Egypt’s participation

BAGHDAD – 10 March 2022: The Iraqi capital Baghdad hosts the Arab Chess Age Groups’ Championship for male and female youth, whose competitions is due to kick off later Thursday.

Fourteen countries, including Egypt, will participate in the tournament that lasts until March 18.

The head of the Iraqi chess federation Dhafer Abdel Amir told Iraq News Agency (INA) that the championship returns anew to Baghdad after a 21-year hiatus.

Up to 90 players will take part in the championship, added Abdel Amir.

The tournament will – for the first time – be broadcast online to all world countries, according to him.
