President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received today a US delegation headed by Mr. Jared Kuchner Senior Advisor to the US President, in addition to Mr. Jason Greenblatt Special Assistant to the US President and his envoy for international negotiations as well as Ms. Dina Powell Deputy US National Security Advisor for strategy. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Sameh Shokry the Foreign Minister and Mr. Khaled Fawzy the Head of the General Intelligence.
President Al-Sisi welcomed the US delegation, and referred to Egypt’s keenness to continue to work on strengthening the multifaceted relations that bind the two countries in various fields as well as continuing coordination and consultation with the American Administration in order to further enhance Egyptian American relations. Mr. President also stressed the importance Egypt attaches to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. President Al-Sisi pointed to the ongoing contacts and efforts Egypt is exerting with the concerned parties in order to advance efforts to restore negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides. He underlined that reaching a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue would create a new reality in the Middle East and counter the terrorist narrative in the region, noting that Egypt is ready to interact with the various international efforts for this aim during the coming period.
Members of the US delegation stressed during the meeting the importance of the Egyptian – American relations, and their support of all efforts to develop cooperation between both countries in the upcoming period. They also expressed their appreciation of Egypt’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as its historical role in supporting a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue. The US delegation reviewed the overall results of the contacts they made with the parties in the region in an effort to push forward the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides. They also pointed out that their tour in the region aims to develop a specific vision for that purpose, and that they are interested to listen to the views of the countries in the region on that matter so that real and tangible progress can be achieved in the time ahead.
