Sisi, Macron discuss bilateral relations in phone call

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed the Egyptian-French relations regional and international issues of mutual concerns by phone, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement on Monday.

Sisi highlighted the increasing growth of cooperation between the two countries in various fields especially in the recent years which contributed to the common interests.

Macron also stressed that his country is keen on enhancing cooperation with Egypt, whose role is important for security and stability in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, the statement reported.

On Sunday, French Minister of Economic and Finance Bruno Le Mair arrived in Cairo to prepare for the visit of Macron to Egypt later this month.

French Ambassador in Cairo Stephane Roumtier announced earlier that intensive preparations are underway with all French bodies in Egypt ahead of Marcon’s looming visit.

On October 2017, Sisi visited Paris for three days, discussed different levels of bilateral relations and regional issues with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. Both leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between both countries.
