Egypt implements 164 service and development projects at LE4.8 billion in North Sinai

Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli followed up on Tuesday on the projects being implemented in North Sinai via a video conference meeting, in the presence of Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Sharawi, North Sinai Governorate Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha, and Director of North Sinai Security Sector Ashraf Rabie.

During the meeting, the prime minister reviewed several requests presented by the governor to push towards completing projects that serve the people of North Sinai, especially those related to utilities, in addition to digging new wells for agriculture and development.

The governor referred to the 146 projects that were implemented in the governorate during the period from 2018-2020, at a cost of LE 4.8 billion, in the various service and development sectors.He pointed out that during the aforementioned period, 2608 social housing units were constructed at LE 400 million.

Concerning the utility sector, the project to develop and upgrade the efficiency of the Al-Arish water network, at a cost of LE866 million, and the project to develop the Al-Safa lifter, at a value of 50 million,haveboth been completed.The governor also indicated that the construction of eightseawater desalination plants is underway, at LE565 million.

As for the health sector, Shousha explained that since 2014, investments worth LE 604.5 million have been pumped into five projects, most of which have been 100% completed.

Moreover, the governor of North Sinai reviewed the implementation position in the service projects, including the wholesale market that is being implemented at the western entrance to the city of Arish to serve the city’s people.

This is in addition tofollowing up the updates of implementing many other development projects in North Sinai, including the establishment of the new city of Rafah and the development of the El-Arish Seaport.

It is worth mentioning that the number of projects financed by Mashrouak program and the Project Development Authority has reached 228 projects, funded by LE10.9 million,and employing 450 people.
