Egypt follows up situation of 17 Egyptian fishermen detained in Tunisia

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely following up the situation of 17 Egyptian fishermen detained by Tunisian authorities, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Amr Mahmoud in a statement published by the ministry on Saturday.

He added that the Egyptian embassy in Tunis is taking all necessary measures to be sure of the safety of the fishermen.

Three days ago, the 17 fishermen were arrested by Tunisian navy forces for illegally entering the Tunisian territorial water in Kerkennah Islands, and then escorted them to the main naval base is the city of Sfax, the statement added.
