Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday has inspected a number of new axes, including the 155-kilometer long Central Ring Road linking Belbes city to Al-Dabaa axis.
Being formed of 16 lanes, 8 for each direction, the Central Ring Road is the widest road in the Middle East. It is located between the Ring Road around the Greater Cairo and the Regional Ring Road.
The Central Ring Road serves all governorates of Upper Egypt and northern Egypt and the Suez Canal cities, Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
It also connects the new cities on both sides of the road in the east and west of Cairo, such as the cities of New Cairo, Al Shorouk, Al Obour, Belbes, 15th of May, Helwan, and 6th of October.
The Central Ring Road has been designed in accordance with the international specifications, to become free from road intersections and to reduce traffic congestion and the pressure on road networks, especially the Ring Road, Radi said.
It will also serve future development requirements wit the aim of saving the travel time, securing smooth movement of vehicles and reducing road accidents, Radi added.
