Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Mohamed Idris stressed the importance of maintaining efforts aimed at providing protection for medical crew and health care institutions in armed disputes.
Idris’ remarks was made on the 5th anniversary of the UN Security Council’s unanimous endorsement of resolution No. 2286 in 2016, which calls for providing protection for workers in the medical and health domain, especially in armed disputes.
Attacks are continuing on medical care staff and disputes are up worldwide in violation of the international law, including the humanitarian international law, he said in a speech on the occasion on Thursday.
Idris highlighted efforts exerted by Egypt to promote protecting civilians in the UN, especially that Egypt is participating in UN peacekeeping forces.
